Sarah Church Duo
On October 9, 2012, Sarah Church recorded a long anticipated demo with her guitarist Chris Bray. Thirty years old and she is finally following her dream, ‘I gave up on my dream, but when I least expected it – the opportunity arose for me to finally pursue it.’
As a child Sarah took piano lessons up to grade three, when she decided that singing was her true passion. Sarah began singing lessons in her early adolescence and continued throughout her teenage years. She began singing in public in her childhood with her mother in church performances, and in church choir. Sarah has played in many theatrical performances including playing the role of Sister Amnesia in Simcoe Little Theatre’s production of the ‘Nuncrackers.’ Her talent not only shone through to the public, but at J.L. Mitchener and Cayuga Secondary School where she sang in talent contests.
Sarah sings a wide range of covers, inspired by musicians such as; Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, Ella Fitzgerald, The Beatles, The Cranberries and Janis Joplin. Her recent demo focused on three jazz standards, she will be recording another demo in the near future focusing on rock and alternative titles.
A resident of Hamilton, Ontario; Sarah now lives with her best friend and dog, Mackenzie. Sarah grew up in both Haldimand and Norfolk counties while she attended elementary and secondary school. Not long after graduation Sarah joined the Canadian Forces Reserve unit in Hamilton and remained as an outstanding member for four years.
In 2004 Sarah served a six month peacekeeping mission in the Golan Heights. During her time with the UN she continued singing with an Austrian band, even appearing on Austrian television. Sarah is not only a talented musician and veteran, in her spare time she enjoys home staging and renovations.
Sarah Church is at an early stage of writing her own music and fully committed to following her dreams of becoming a career vocalist.
